Patient

Demographics and administrative information about an individual receiving care or health-related services.

Overview#

The Patient resource includes demographic and administrative data used for identification and care coordination. It adheres to the US Core Patient Profile from USCDI V2.

Must Support Elements#

Identifier (e.g. MRN)
Name (first, middle, last, suffix, old)
Gender
Birth date
Address (current and old)
Telecom
Communication (preferred language)
US Core Extensions:

Ethnicity
Birth Sex
Sexual Orientation
Gender Identity

Supported Endpoints#

Get Patient by ID
Get Patient by Identifier
Get Patient by Name
Get Patient by Birthdate and Name
Get Patient by Gender and Name

Get Patient by Family and Gender
Each endpoint returns a Bundle of matching Patient resources or an OperationOutcome on error.
